Finding Customer Vehicles Out Of State
Marion Milstead bought a Ford F150 from me while he was in the USMC and stationed at Camp Lejeune, N.C. After he bought the vehicle we became friends. He would stop by my car lot on various occasions. A few months later, he gets out of the Marine Corps and moves to Virginia to accept a civilian job. A little over a year has passed and I received a customer request vehicle form, off of my web page , from him in Virginia. He and his future wife, Angie, wants a SUV with low miles on it. He goes on my web page, clicks on Customer Request A Vehicle form and describes the SUV that he wants. I found it a couple of weeks later. When I called him, he and Angie made arrangements to meet me and and my wife at a halfway point, Smithfield, N.C. My wife and I drove their new Durango and met them at the Golden Corral restaurant in Smithfield. We all embraced and greeted each other. They looked at the vehicle for the first time. They handed me a check for $14,600. We entered the restaurant and they bought our dinner and we socialized and ate for a couple of hours. The point is : Marion trusts me to pick him out a vehicle that meets his criteria. He basically bought the vehicle sight unseen. I made him a guarantee that he would be satisfied with what I found for him. He gave me lead way on color, make, and model, etc. Basically he wanted an SUV with a 3rd row seat and low miles. He had a budget figure that he gave me and I came in lower. He and Angie drove back to Virginia. They are happy in their new Durango. Marion said , " this is the only time that he has ever bought a vehicle sight unseen." His father told him, " You must be crazy." Marion said, "No, I trust Randy."
Marion calls me this past spring. He had the durango now for almost 4 years. He is ready to upgrade. He goes on my web page and this time requests a Chevrolet Silverado 2500, crew cab with an allison transmission and a duramax diesel engine. A few days later, I call him and Angie and tell them the good news. I email them pictures of it. This time he overnights me a check for $17,500 to buy the truck. It will be a week or so before they can come down and get the truck. They are going to bring the dodge durango down that I sold them a few years ago and let me sell it for them on Consignment. By letting me sell the durango on consignment for them, they will make more money versus trading the vehicle in. They came down in a couple of weeks. They came to our house, we had dinner. They brought me the Dodge Durango and they went back to Virginia with the Chevrolet truck. This is the second vehicle that he has bought from me sight unseen. Less than 30 days after this, I mail him a check for his Durango that I sold for him on consignment.
We do our best to make all our customers feel like they are a part of our family, just like Marion and Angie Milstead
